IM Gary Lane is a popular coach for English (junior) and Australian teams. He is the author of over thirty chess books, which have also been translated into a variety of languages. After initial success by winning the British Under-14 championship he went on to a professional career, winning the Commonwealth Championship, and at one point was playing in five different countries for various chess teams. After moving to Australia, he soon become national champion and Australian Olympic team member on three occasions.
